1 dead, 2 hospitalized after light plane crash near trailer home in northwest Harris County, officials say

HARRIS COUNTY – One person has been pronounced dead and two others have been hospitalized after a small plane crash in northwest Harris County.

Officials said the SR-22 single-engine fixed-wing aircraft began its journey in Tennessee and then stopped in Louisiana for refueling before flying to Hooks Airport in the spring.

The plane reportedly lost power and crashed into a tree before falling between two mobile homes near Pinewood Place and Monterrey around 5:15 p.m

There were people in one of the mobile homes while the other was empty. Officials say none of the residents in the area were injured.

The victims were reportedly the only people on board at the time of the crash.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said two of the victims were taken to the hospital in stable condition and the third victim was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, DPS officials said.

HAZMAT crews were also on site to ensure no fires or chemicals were entering the community.
