History Links MADISON, Wis. –The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team lost 6-1 to #54 Wisconsin in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.
The #53 Quakers lost the doubles point with the Badgers winning at #2 and #3. Game #1 featuring teams #5 (Edoardo Graziani/Kevin Zhu) and #36 (Gabriel Huber / Michael Minasyan) in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) doubles ranking has been discontinued.
Singles action was close from No. 1 to No. 6, with three matches going into three sets and two more matches requiring first-set tiebreakers before each ended 7-5 in the second set. Wisconsin won at No. 6 and No. 4 for a 3-0 lead. Zhu followed with a straight-set victory over former Quaker Jason Hildebrandt, bringing Penn down to 3-1. Zhu improved to 6-3 this spring with his victory.
It was as close as Penn came, however, as the Badgers closed out the match with a trio of three-set singles victories.
