Chai Pe Charcha with BrandWagon

The weekend is all about downtime. After a week of working to meet deadlines, everyone needs a breather to relax and unwind. From watching a favorite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are said to be time for family and me. Dayapatra Nevatia, President and COO of Infogain, speaks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favorite vacation spot and more.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I almost always work as the COO of a fast-growing IT company. Over time it has become more of a 24×7 work culture, especially with large teams in India and clients in the US. So on weekdays I hardly have time but on weekends I have more time and I either laze around and watch a thriller or spend time with nature like trekking, hiking.

What do you do on the weekends?

My daily routine and my time to get up in the morning etc. does not change. I’m quite disciplined in many ways. Part of my weekend time is to attend to personal chores as there is absolutely no time for personal matters on weekdays. The rest of the time I either laze around and watch a thriller or spend time with nature like trekking or hiking. I also like reading about current affairs.

What are your favorite gadgets?

I don’t like having too many gadgets, but I can’t do without my iPhone and MacBook. These two are my lifeline.

If you could choose another profession, what would it be?

I would choose to be an Air Force pilot. I always wanted to do that, but then I decided to enter the IT industry. One day I want to learn how to fly an airplane.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

Anything related to nature – snowy mountains, rocky hills, deserts, lakes, beaches, forests. Some of the places I have enjoyed visiting are Living Roots Bridges in Meghalaya, Mountain Deserts in Sikkim and Ladakh, White Rann in Kutch Gujarat and Le Morne Mountain Trek and the Undersea Walk in Mauritius.

A must-watch TV show, movie and advertising campaign.

There are many TV shows and movies that I found quite entertaining that will keep you on your toes. But I can’t do justice by picking specific ones. Two ad campaigns that I really liked are a helmet wearing campaign “You only have one head” with a good mix of safety message and humor. And my absolute favourite, Amul – these ads are so cheeky and reflect well on the current events around us.
