Ganesh Chaturthi 2022: Is the Stock Exchange Open Today?

Indian stock market, bond market as well as forex market will remain closed on Wednesday on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Trading will resume on Thursday.

According to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) website, there will be no action in the equities segment, derivatives segment and SLB segment on August 31.

In addition, commodity markets will observe a holiday during the morning session. However, trading in commodities will resume by evening.

The Indian stock market staged a smart recovery on Tuesday, with the benchmark BSE 30-Pack Sensex up nearly 3%.

The BSE Sensex rose 1,564.45 points, or 2.70%, to settle at 59,537.07 on Tuesday. Over the day, the benchmark rose 1,627.16 points, or 2.80%, to 59,599.78.

The market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE skyrocketed 5,68,305.56 crore to 2,80,24,621.83 million.

All 30 Sensex components ended in the green with Bajaj Finserv up 5.47% followed by Bajaj Finance which was up 4.86%.

Other big winners included IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC and Tata Steel. Gains in Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Infosys, TCS, HUL, SBI, Axis Bank and ITC fueled the rally.

In the broader market, the BSE midcap gauge was up 1.97% and the small cap index was up 1.40%.

All BSE sector indices ended in the green with Realty up 3.51%, Bankex up 3.33%, Financials up 3.18%, Utilities (2.82%), Energy (2.82%) and Oil & Gas (2.65%).

A total of 2,397 shares rose while 1,028 fell and 127 remained flat.
