It’s Michigan’s Most Unique Job | Michigan

The United States has the fastest growing economy in the world. Once symbolized by the automobile and steel industries, the American economy is today the world’s technological colossus. But the US economy is more than that. It is a single sum of the parts of 50 states whose identities are often tied to a particular job or industry. (And domestic workers hold the most jobs in these 12 states.)

Using state-by-state employment data for all detailed occupations from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Survey of Occupational Wages and Employment Statistics for May 2022, 24/7 Wall St. identified employment most unique in each state.

Based on location quotient – ​​the ratio of an occupation’s employment concentration in one state to its national concentration – metal and plastic modelers rank as the most unique occupation in Michigan. With 590 jobs in the field out of 4,247,470 jobs in the state, occupation is 9.3 times more concentrated in Michigan than nationally.

The average annual salary for workers in the occupation statewide is $64,050, compared to $55,470 nationally.
