Jackets Claim ACC Victory Over Boston College – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
THE APARTMENTS – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (11-7, 2-2 ACC) capped off their week of competition with another conference victory by defeating Boston College (6-6, 0-4 ACC) in a 6-1 decision.
The Eagles had the early advantage after going 2-1 in doubles and picking up the game’s first point. Tech’s only doubles winners, Keshav Chopra and Rohan Sachdev, improved to 3-1 in doubles match play. The duo beat Boston College’s Fung and Vassel 6-2.
When it came to singles play, the Jackets took full control with several matches ending in straight sets. Game 1 ended quickly as Robert Bauer dominated Boston College’s McDonald. After shutting it out 6-0 in the first set, Bauer completed the match with a 6-3 victory in the second set.
Number 74 Chopra and Sachdev followed with nearly identical scores in their respective matches. Both jackets beat their opponents by at least three points in straight sets. No. 68 Marcus McDaniel won the game for Tech with his 7-6 [7-4]7-6 [7-3] victory over Boston College’s Bianchi.
The match ended with singles wins for Elias Shokry and No. 46 Andres Martin. Shokry was the fifth jacket to win after two straight sets. Despite falling in the first set, Martin bounced back with a 6-3 victory in the second and 7-6 [7-3] win in the third set.
