Jennifer Benson takes over House, business ties to a lobbying firm

After announcing earlier in the morning that she was leaving her job as head of the Alliance for Business Leadership for “a new opportunity to support Massachusetts’ growing clean energy industry,” former Representative Jennifer Benson was named Monday afternoon as the newest director at a high-level companies announced lobbying firm.

Robert Travaglini, the former Senate President who owns Travaglini, Scorzoni & Kiley, said Benson, a Lunenburg Democrat who served in the Massachusetts House for 11 years from 2009 to 2020, will help the lobbying shop broaden its areas of expertise.

“Jen Benson is a well-respected leader and we are excited to have her join our team,” he said. “She is a perfect fit for us given her extensive experience in state government as well as her extensive connections to the state’s business community. As a national leader in climate policy and job creation, she is the perfect fit to expand our company’s expertise and meet the growing needs of our customers.”

Benson said she considered the Travaglini, Scorzoni & Kiley lobbyists a “critical resource” during her elected tenure in the House of Representatives and that he ran the progressive ABL group of companies for three years.

“I’m thrilled to start my new chapter with Travaglini, Scorzoni and Kiley. I’ve always admired her straightforwardness and unmatched expertise,” Benson said in a statement. She added, “I am truly honored to join this highly respected company where I hope to add value and continue to contribute to the Massachusetts renewable energy ecosystem.”
