LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Hurons defeat Cardinals | News, Sports, Jobs




The Rogers City softball team scored its second doubleheader win in as many days on Friday, beating Onaway 11-0, 10-1.

In the opening game, Taylor Krentz secured the win for Rogers City (22-7) by throwing a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts.

Alyssa Hein and Elise Muller had two goals for Rogers City; Callie Rhode had two triples and three RBIs.

In the second game, McKenna Hardies took the win. At Plate, Kaitlin Nowicki had three hits and three RBIs, and Brooklyn Orr had two hits and three RBIs.

On Thursday, Rogers City defeated Petoskey 7-5 and 10-4. Kaitlyn Crawford helped Rogers City with a walk-off three-run home run in the opening game.

Rogers City host Grayling on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

Mackinaw City defeats Poznan

The Poznan baseball team faced Mackinaw City in an off-conference doubleheader on Friday, losing 3-0, 15-5.

In the opening game, three runs at the bottom of the first inning was enough to win Mackinaw City.

Ethan Romel and Maties Torralaba each had a goal for PoznaƄ.

Mackinaw City took control early in the second game, scoring five runs in each of the first three innings.

Poznan accumulated five hits for the game, scoring two in the third inning and three in the fourth inning.

Jack Romel had two hits, an RBI and a run for Posen; Lucas Mericer had a hit, an RBI and a run, and Joshua Gardner and Andrew Budnick had a hit each.
