Meta Blast’s FTC Deal Challenge and Chairman’s Agenda

By Matthew Perlman (Aug. 29, 2022 at 7:26 p.m. EDT) – Meta Platforms Inc. told a California federal court that its proposed purchase of virtual reality fitness app developer Within Unlimited Inc. was good for competition and the consumer, arguing that the Federal Trade Commission’s challenge is based on the Chairman’s biases.

Meta filed a response to the FTC’s complaint in federal court on Friday as the agency seeks to block the deal over concerns that Meta is trying to buy into the virtual reality fitness market rather than produce its own app or its own “random” fitness app Beat to extend Saber.
