ANN ARBOR, Mich. — No. 23 Rutgers Women’s Lacrosse (4-5, 0-3) lost to No. 15 Michigan (8-4, 2-1), 14-4, Friday night in Ann Arbor. Playing their fifth ranked team in six outings, the Scarlet Knights were held to a season-low 10 shots at UM Lacrosse Stadium.

Rookie Ava Kane scored twice – her second multi-point outing in Big Ten action – to pace the Scarlet Knights offense, while graduate student Marin Hartshorn and junior Kate Carolonza added a goal apiece. Senior Meghan Ball produced team highs in causing turnovers (five) and draw checks (four), and junior goaltender Sophia Cardello stopped a high 12 shots in loss.

Kane scored back-to-back goals out of the locker room, including an assist from grad student Marin Hartshorn, but UM used a 3-2 advantage in the third quarter for an 11-3 lead in 45 minutes. Michigan would add three more goals in the fourth to secure the conference victory.
