Parade honoring the Honolulu Little League World Series champions

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The city will host a huge parade to celebrate the Honolulu team after winning the 2022 Little League World Series.
The parade will take place on September 8th at 12 noon.
It begins at Aala Park and travels down King Street to Honolulu Hale, where a mayor-sponsored party and live music will take place.
Marching bands, fire trucks and local baseball teams are expected to be part of the massive parade honoring Hawaii’s world champions!
The team also came to Sunrise on Thursday to reflect on their experience during the competition.
For many of the boys, this was the first time they had been away from home for an extended period of time. The team really worked to keep each other focused.
“You just know we have each other’s backs and stay calm,” said infielder Kobe Hino.
The players even got a little taste of independence.
“It’s fun being apart from your parents, but when you come back you realize how much you love them and how much you miss them,” said pitcher Cohen Sakamoto.
The players said that despite being miles from home, they truly felt the love and support of family and fans in Hawaii.
Through all their hard work and numerous games, the Honolulu Little League team dominated the competition and rose to the top.
“It’s just unbelievable what they’ve done. You sacrificed a lot. You’ve worked very hard this summer. I just couldn’t be happier and prouder of them,” said coach Gerald Oda.
“Regardless of the results, every game has been very difficult, I mean it’s been tough, but I’m just proud of how these kids treat themselves.”
