Sam’s Club membership dues will increase on October 17th
An annual Sam’s Club membership will soon cost 5 or 10 dollars more.
- Sam’s Club is a warehouse club available to buyers paying an annual fee.
- From October 17th the membership fees will be increased.
- Club Memberships are now $50 instead of $45, while Plus Memberships are now $110 instead of $100.
Sam’s Club membership dues have remained the same for nearly a decade. But that should change soon. On August 31, letters were sent to current members informing them of forthcoming increases in membership fees.
Similar to Costco, Sam’s Club is a warehouse club that sells groceries, housewares, toiletries, cleaning supplies, clothing, and more.
For many households, warehouse clubs offer a way to save money on groceries and other everyday expenses. Since most items are sold in bulk, buyers can pay discounted prices while stocking up on essentials.
But this type of business is not open to the public. You must pay an annual membership fee to shop at Sam’s Club or any other Warehouse Club.
Soon it will cost more to do this. The membership fee for Sam’s Club will be increased starting next month. While the price increase isn’t significant, it could affect your bank account.
Member prices will increase by $5 to $10
Sam’s Club members have paid the same annual membership fees for years. But from mid-October, members pay more.
CEO Kath McLay recently announced upcoming membership price changes in an email to current Sam’s Club members.
Here’s what changes you can expect:
- Club membership price increases by $5 from $45 to $50.
- Plus membership price increases by $10 from $100 to $110.
These price changes will begin on October 17th. At this point, brand new members will pay the new prices when they sign up.
As a thank you, existing Sam’s Club members will receive Sam’s Cash when they renew at the new higher price point.
Club members get $5, while Plus members get $10 shortly after their membership renewal.
Is the price increase worth it?
Only you can decide if it’s worth paying a higher annual fee to shop at Sam’s Club. You should consider how often you shop at Sam’s Club and whether you’ve gotten much value from your membership.
The good news is that if you’re a current member, you’ll get the price increase back in Sam’s Cash when it’s time to renew – so you won’t feel the price change right away.
Should You Join a Warehouse Club? For those considering joining Sam’s Club, now may be the best time to do so while the cheaper membership price is available.
How to get a free Sam’s Club membership
Sam’s Club often runs promotions to attract new members.
If you’re not already a member, you can get a free Sam’s Club membership for $0 thanks to the current savings.
When you become a new club member and pay the $45 membership fee, you are eligible for a $45 rebate on your next club purchase of $45 or more. This offer is valid until October 16th.
