Serendipity Arts Announces Open Call Inviting Artists to Residencies
The Serendipity Arts invites artists from across the country to its Arts Residency, an annual three-month artists’ program in the state capital. The program, now in its sixth edition, invites emerging artists who work interdisciplinary. It starts on July 1st and ends with an open studio in the first week of October.
Designed as an intensive studio residency for emerging artists, the 3-month+ residency program provides residents with space and resources to develop their practice, work on a new project, and interact with the broader arts community in the city.
While five artists-in-residence from India will be selected by an external jury – appointed by Serendipity Arts – one curator-in-residence will be selected through nomination, organizers said.
Application deadline is April 23rd.
“We have expanded the nature of applications to support a broader range of artistic practices. We believe in providing a place for artists to meet with like-minded people from different genres and disciplines to create an informal space for exchange for artists and the arts of the region,” said Smriti Rajgarhia, Director of Serendipity Arts Foundation and Festival, in a statement.
According to Rajgarhia, this year’s program will also feature a French artist as a resident at Villa Swagatam – a project launched by the French Embassy in India to increase collaboration and exchanges.
Artists selected for the program will participate in a series of peer-to-peer talks, critique sessions, gallery and studio visits, artist talks and presentations, etc., allowing residents to explore the arts ecosystem.
Specifically, the residency is only open to Indian citizens residing in the country who are no older than 35 years of age.
