He also questioned the timing of the crackdown on Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh and his associates. Without naming Amritpal, Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur, said it is unfortunate that the government is cracking down on people who are steering youth towards Sikhi while turning a blind eye to gangsters who remain active even behind bars.
Singh, who also raised slogans against the state government, was addressing a large congregation who had gathered to celebrate the first anniversary of his son’s death here at the grain market on Sunday.
Singh did not hide his anger at an interview with Lawrence Bishnoi, which aired on a private news channel, in which he attempted to question Moosewala’s history.
“When I saw him on TV, I felt like my son had died again,” said Singh, who recently held a dharna with his wife in front of the Punjab congregation to demand justice for their murdered son.
Singh also questioned why the courts failed to take note of Bishnoi’s interview suo motu when he openly threatened to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
“I’m so proud that so many people are here because of my son,” said the emotional father, who only went public after his son’s death.
PPCC chief Raja Amrinder Singh Warring and Sukhpal Singh Khaira were among those attending the bhog. SGPC Chief Harjinder Singh Dhami was also present on the occasion. But none of them turned to the church. Singh made it clear from the start that it was a religious event.
Regarding the suspension of the internet in the state following the police crackdown on WPD, Balkaur Singh regretted that jailed gangsters had access to the internet but these services have been suspended for ordinary people to prevent them from reaching the venue and their voices not being heard .
Singh reiterated his demand that those behind the conspiracy should be interrogated.
