Softball hits four-game skid in Florida

The Polar Bears lost 10-1 to Wisconsin–River Falls and suffered an 8-7 loss to Carroll on the same day. The following day, Bowdoin lost a 9-8 decision to Loras College and a 9-1 loss to Hope. Bowdoin slips to 5-5 on the season.

University Game Highlights Carroll Bowdoin scored two runs to lead the first with an RBI double from Angelina Mayers and an RBI single from Katryna Dukehart. Carroll responded with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning. Bowdoin again scored a pair of runs in the second, this time against RBI singles from Lilly Armstrong and JK Bradley. Again, Carroll responded with a single point in the bottom half. The Pioneers shot within one in the third of an RBI double. The Polar Bears pushed their lead again as Armstrong made two more runs with a right-hand single. Carroll continued to stay within striking distance with a run in the fifth that made it 6-4. Dukhart raced the seventh and final round of Bowdoin in sixth. Various field errors made by the Polar Bears in the bottom of the seventh allowed Carroll to come back, tie the game and win with a single. Anna Halliday started on the rubber and pitched four innings with eight hits and three earned runs. Maddie Current pitched the final 2.2 innings and allowed eight hits and two earned runs. Armstrong went 3 for 5 with three RBIs and two stolen bases. Bradley and Sydney Lang were both 3 for 4. Lang scored a double and recorded a stolen base.

Loras College Game Highlights Loras took a 6-0 lead after three innings. Bowdoin scored three in the fourth. Mayers threw a run and Shea Sullivan scored two with a right-hand single. Loras took the game to 7-3 in the bottom half of the set. The Polar Bears rallied in the sixth and took the lead. Sullivan recorded an RBI single, while Lang had a two-run double and Armstrong tackled Lang with a double. The Duhawks took the final game lead in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run homer left. Armstrong went 3 for 4 at the plate, hitting a home run before the cycle, with two RBIs. Sullivan was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Current pitched a full game with eight hits, three strikeouts and four earned runs.

Hope College Game Highlights A five-run third inning put Hope ahead. The Dutch tackled two more in the top of the fourth before Mayers hit a solo homer to put Bowdoin on the board. Hope scored one more in each of the fifth and sixth innings to end the game there. Bowdoin fielded four pitchers in the circle who combined for 12 walks and five earned runs, allowing 10 hits. Mayers and Gary were both 2 for 3.
