South Florida defeats the Pirates in Nori’s comeback

TAMPA, March 24, 2023 — Left-handed pitcher Gabriella Nori (Weston) pitched a full game in the University of South Florida’s 6-1 win over East Carolina in Friday’s conference opener. afternoon.

After an exact month since her last appearance, Nori made her return at the conference opener. She allowed a run in the top of the seventh and struck out two.

Marissa Trivelpiece (Sugarloaf, PA) opened the second set with a brace. After two flyouts, the Bulls started a two-man rally and scored three runs. Trivelpiece scored on a Rian Eigenmann (Millville, NJ) single.

A batter later, Jordyn Kadlub (Wesley Chapel) doubled to left center field for two Bulls to cross the plate.

In the fourth inning, Tieley Vaughn (Wesley Chapel) hit USF’s second double and scored on a sacrifice fly from Eigenmann.

South Florida continued to score in both innings. Trivelpiece scored their second brace of the game. Vaughn went third on a sacrificial bunt turned into an error by the Pirates pitcher. The error allowed South Florida’s fifth run to score. Hallie Bryant (Trenton) failed and Vaughn scored the final point.

NOTABLES For the second time in a week, Trivelpiece scored two doubles in a single match. The Bulls were one double away from tying a six-game, one-game program. Kadlub and Eigenmann led with two RBIs. Bryant had one. Nori pitched his second complete game without a walk this season.

South Florida will continue conference play with East Carolina tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
