The integrated QuickBooks browser replaces Internet Explorer

Ask the accountant…
Question: I received an email from QuickBooks saying there was a security risk due to a browser issue. What does that mean?
Answers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 was the default browser for QuickBooks Desktop. Microsoft ended its support for Internet Explorer on June 15, 2022, and QB is replacing it with its own new internal browser.
The new QB browser is fully supported, which means it’s safe and secure from hacks and the like. When software is no longer supported by its vendor, the software stops being updated and is much more vulnerable to hacks and the like. This is the case with MS Internet Explorer and why QB is taking this action.
For QB Desktop (Pro, Premier, and Enterprise) 2020, 2021, and 2022, make sure your QB updates are up to date. Here is the path to it: In QB > Help > Update QB Desktop > Update Now.
Also, make sure your “Automatic Update” is set to “On” and that it’s you Update instead of upgradewhich could land you in a much more expensive subscription product.
