USA vs. Venezuela in the 2023 World Baseball Classic

Venezuela won a perfect 4-0 in the much-anticipated Pool D competition in Miami to stay top of the table against Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua and Israel.

“That was a bear from a pool,” US coach Mark DeRosa said on Friday. “So it was pretty impressive that they went unbeaten. But no, [I’m] not shocked at all by the amount of talent they have at this club. We are excited about the opportunity and excited to board this plane to get here.”

“It’s only a matter of time, we thought, that the USA would be our rival on Saturday,” said Venezuela coach Omar López on Thursday. “And each coach started individually with the preparation.”
