Chasing Rabbits, a new entertainment venue, opens in Vail

VAIL, Colo. – There’s a new eatery in Vail that may look like a regular restaurant at first glance, but it’s a lot more than meets the eye.

Chasing Rabbits opened in December and bills itself as an entertainment venue unlike anything else in the area. It’s part restaurant, part theater, part library, part arcade, and part speakeasy.

Chasing Rabbits Vice President Thea Knobel said if you’re opening an indoor venue in a place like Vail, you better make it stand out.

“It’s a little mystery, a little intrigue,” Knobel said. “You never know what you’re going to get when you come to Chasing Rabbits.”

The space was formerly a movie theater at the Solaris, a luxury condominium complex, but has been converted into a 13,000 square foot entertainment venue.

You first enter a restaurant that looks perfectly normal, but then expands into dimly lit hallways that lead to other rooms, where hidden rabbits add an Alice and Wonderland vibe. It was designed to lead people down the rabbit hole.

“It’s very unique. Like Alice in Wonderland, she went down the rabbit hole,” Knobel said. “Each room has its own design.”

These rooms include a library where you can eat, read books, and search for hidden secrets such as: B. a hollow book with a special menu inside.

Walk down the red carpeted corridor and you will end up in a pub where classic films are shown and special drinks are served.

“So if you see that little cosmonaut rabbit over there, the drink comes on it,” Knobel said. “Some drinks come on a ship or a clock. The clock is obviously related to Alice and Wonderland.”

A stroll through the Infinity Hall then takes you into the Rabbit Hole, an arcade with big-screen TVs and space to dance some nights.

“It’s really a place where people have fun, they can dance, they can watch a movie,” Knobel said.

Although it has only been open for a few months, the spot is already enjoying great popularity. Reservations are strongly recommended and some nights book up a month or more in advance.
