Man dies in I-65 crash

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A 42-year-old man died in an accident on Interstate 65 in Mobile on Tuesday evening, according to the police department.

Police identified the deceased as Terry D. Raley.

The MPD said officers were responding to the I-65 southbound between the airport and Dauphin Street at about 6:10 p.m. for a traffic fatality. Preliminary investigations revealed that two separate accidents had occurred.

In the first accident, a driver was traveling northbound on I-65 when he collided with another vehicle. Police said driver Raley then exited his vehicle and walked across the concrete barrier to I-65 southbound.

The second accident happened when Raley was hit after he pulled in in front of oncoming traffic, police said.

The man was struck and killed by a vehicle traveling southbound on I-65. The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim showed no signs of impairment at the scene, police said.

This is an ongoing investigation, police said.
