DMV2GO, the Department of Motor Vehicles’ mobile service program, will be hosting pop-up events in Ignacio, Durango and Silverton over the next two weeks. The program partners with Manna, Compañeros: Four Corners Immigrant Resource Center, the La Plata Family Centers Coalition, the Southern Ute Tribe and the City of Silverton.

Area residents may renew, replace, or receive their first-time Colorado ID if they have the appropriate documentation.

The goal of the service is to make DMV’s key services – issuing ID cards and driver’s licenses – more accessible to residents of rural, underserved areas, as well as to the homeless.

Marissa Hunt, resource center manager at Manna sup kitchen, said an ID card is a crucial and often missing component in securing housing and employment.

“Many of us take for granted how easy it is to have and maintain an ID card,” Hunt said. “A lot of the people we work with may have had ID from another state and may have gotten lost somewhere on their journey.”

31 May: 8am – 5pm at Sky Ute Casino

June 1st: 8am – 5pm at Sky Ute Casino

June 8th: 9am – 1pm at Manna

June 9: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Durango Public Library

12 June: 8am – 5pm at Silverton School

13 June: 8am – 5pm at Silverton School

One of the DMV pop-ups will be at Manna to make the services of the DMV available to customers using other offerings in the Resource Center.

“We’re trying to bring more services under one roof,” Hunt said. “We often find that there is a high dropout rate when you leave campus as soon as you provide a service or get someone to use a service in another area.”

A physical address must be provided to obtain ID – PO Boxes are not accepted. Manna has long provided a dedicated address for those who require ID but do not have a permanent address, and its staff will be on site at DMV2GO events with mail merges serving as necessary proof of address.

Manna staff also undertake payment for DMV services on behalf of those who may need financial assistance.

“We’re very excited to be doing this in the Southwest region and testing a few clinics,” said Hunt.
