President Biden kicks off ‘Invest in America’ tour in North Carolina

DURHAM, NC (WBTV) — President Joe Biden will travel to Durham on March 28 for the start of his “Invest in America” tour.
“The tour will highlight how President Biden’s Invest in America agenda – including landmark investments from the Cut Inflation Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act and the bailout American – sparking a manufacturing boom, helping to rebuild our infrastructure and bring back supply chains, cut costs for hard-working families, and create jobs that don’t require a four-year degree nationwide,” according to a White House press release.
In Durham, Biden plans to visit Wolfspeed, a semiconductor maker that has announced a $5 billion investment in North Carolina that is expected to create 1,800 new jobs.
Biden isn’t the only official stop in North Carolina for the tour.
“Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo will travel to North Carolina to visit manufacturers producing fiber optic cables. As part of the bipartisan Infrastructure Act, the administration is making high-speed internet available nationwide and using American-made fiber optic cable in North Carolina to achieve this,” the statement said.
And finally, former North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Secretary Michael Regan, now an EPA administrator, will also be in the state.
“Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan will travel to North Carolina to discuss how President Biden’s Invest in America program is making historic investments to ensure that all people and communities have access to safe drinking water,” according to the White House.
The tour will also visit the following countries: California, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Wisconsin, etc.
