‘Terrible you didn’t reach out to Ashley Graham’: The internet has slammed The View as ‘spineless’ for protecting Hugh Grant after the 2023 Oscars viral interview

While appearing on The View to promote his latest film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, 62-year-old Hugh Grant received no questions about his controversial comments about co-star Ashley Graham at the Oscars 2023 and co-hosts intentionally avoided the subject.
That decision has drawn criticism of the hosts on social media, with some viewers feeling they have missed an opportunity to hold Grant accountable. Many believe he should have credited Graham in his acceptance speech after winning an award for the film they both starred in.

The show’s co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farrah Griffin noticeably avoided the hot topic. Instead, the ladies discussed the Four Weddings and a Funeral star’s reunion with his former co-star Andie MacDowell onstage at the Oscars 2023 as they jointly presented the award for Best Production Design.

On Sunday night, Graham – one of the ABC red carpet presenters – asked Grant a series of questions he was clearly not interested in answering. Grant just acted visually disinterested and rude. And now the 62-year-old actor is being brutally teased by netizens on Twitter.

The duo also shared an awkward moment when Grant referenced the 1848 novel Vanity Fair, and Graham thought he was referring to the annual magazine party. The interview wasn’t what people expected, instead it was a total shock.

Hugh Grant’s rude behavior
At the end of the interview, Grant rolled his eyes as he walked away. Viewers were torn as to who performed worse during the interview. Some called Grant “rude” and an “idiot” for treating Graham, while others felt the model was ill-prepared and asking “stupid questions”.

When asked about the viral moment after the awards ceremony, Graham replied:

In response to this criticism, some viewers called The View “spineless” for failing to address the issue. However, we forget that it is important to note that this is a subjective opinion and not a fact. The View hosts may have had their own reasons for not approaching Graham during the interview, and it’s up to their viewers to decide whether or not they agree with their decision. Grant has yet to deal with the backlash.
